Music plays a very important role in my life. Some of my earliest memories are of my sister and I dancing and singing along to our favorite songs at the time. My mom instilled the use of music into me since the time I could remember. She played it when she cleaned up the house, when she was happy, when she was sad, when she was mad. Almost any emotion she felt or action she did she would play music. I can say that I have adopted her ways. I LOVE listening to music, it's almost like an escape for me. Singing along to the top of my lungs is also a plus :). My favorite genre of music is R&B, but I don't restrict myself to just one type of music. R&B artists and songs that were popular in the 90's resonate with me the most. I've also been attracted to the smoothness of the riffs and runs they are able to produce.

My mother's side of the family is Puerto Rican. This meant that I listened to a lot of merengue and bachata growing up, especially at family functions. Dancing goes hand and hand with music. Below is the most iconic song and music video by the merengue king himself, Elvis Crespo.

I myself never played an instrument ( other than the recorder in fourth grade), however my sister played the clarinet. She was never very good at it, but seeing her play was very intriguing. I wanted to some day learn how to play an instrument. I would also like explore more music genres. Being as though there are so many, I know there's many more that I would enjoy!

This is all just fine, Tanjae. I'm happy to see the King of Merengue here! And helping to get the house clean is one of the best uses of music that I know--works every time :-)
